Usec. Abella lectures on understanding Duterte
(February 23, 2018)
As the supreme architect of the administration's nation-building program, DFA Usec. Ernesto Abella said that the Filipinos need to understand the Duterte style of leadership.
Abella spoke before a multitudes of over 1600 communicators last february 19, 2018, during the National information Summit in Davao City.
Quoting Karl Marx who said that 'philosophers have only interpreted the world, he articulated that 'the point is to change it.'
Change, according to him, must be felt in the heart, before it enters the mind.
Powerful story masterfully told can change the course of destiny, because as Abella maintained, 'great powers have a story they tell themselves.
"Instead of saying that we are victims, we are inferior and the West is better, or that the rich are smarter and Luzon is better which seems that there is a need for approval of others, a new story is emerging. Filipinos are not inferior. We are sovereign and independent people. The Filipino is not a victim. We take full responsibility for the well-being of our countrymen. Philippines is friend to all, enemy to none. Our people and our national interest come first," said Abella.
President Duterte, according to Abella is not a traditional politician. He added that Digong is a socialist and not a communist. He also said that the President is faithful and loyal to the Filipinos, and not to a social class.
"The President has a vast and rich experience as Mayor and as a southern politician. He knows poverty, corruption, crime, illegal drugs and social injustice first-hand. He is committed to the well-being of Filipinos, fully aware of how to bring about inclusive progress, law and order and peaceful co-existence," affirmed Abella.
Meanwhile, Abella also borrowed Pres. Duterte's remarks, which he quoted as follows: "Go beyond my words. Look at my back. See the Filipino bent in suffering. I have built a city and I am now building a country. A nation that provides decent and comfortable lives to all freedom-loving and law-abiding Filipinos."
"What is our story? We tell the same story to inspire our fellow Filipinos and the nations of the world to support our aspirations," Abella said.
