Thousands support the Federalism Movement
(March 5, 2018)
More than 10,000 Surigaonon followers and LGU officials take part during the Federalism Convergence last March 1, 2018 at the Provincial Gym.
House Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez administered the oath-taking of Gov. Sol Matugas as the over-all Chairperson of the powerful Caraga Regional Development Council (RDC) appointed by Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte.
"We are a strong, consisting of 90% of the entire province, with 17 out of 20 municipalities and 1 city. More are joining in our aim to federalize the Republic of the Philippines," said Cong. Francisco Jose ‘Bingo’ Matugas II.
Also there to gave their keynote messages of commitment were Cong. Bingo’s peers from the House of Representatives, namely, Cong. Rey Umali, Cong. Koko Nograles and Cong. Zajeed Mangudadatu.
Cong. Nograles said 'that with the official appointment of Gov. Sol Matugas as the Caraga Regional Development Council (RDC) Chair, the Matugas leadership has the full support, absolute confidence and 100% trust of the people.'
Cong. Bingo Matugas thanked the die-hard Federalism advocates 'for the show of force and the strong teamwork which was indicative that we have the numbers.'
"Others stayed at the Sports Complex but we made sure that they were provided with adequate and free food during lunch. Leaders, from purok organizers to barangay captains and mayors were present to show their allegiance to the cause of Federalism," said the idealistic, principled and visionary lawmaker.
Cong. Matugas also added that those who express their willingness to take part of the Federalism Movement are still welcome.
Officials were also properly oriented about Federalism which is the main thrust and advocacy of the Duterte administration so that ‘economic progress and governing powers will not concentrate solely in the Imperial Manila but rather, there is fair share in the countryside.’
Then Gov. Francisco 'Lalo' Matugas also expressed his wholehearted gratitude to all those who came.
"Expect that the best is sure to come. There will be more projects and programs to be implemented for the good of our beloved constituents. We are fair and objective, and we are strictly observing zero tolerance policy against bias and favoritism, so there will be strong harmony and pure cooperation," said Cong. Matugas.
