Surigao Norte marks 58th Birthday

With the theme " Marajaw na Serbisyo Publiko, Kinabuhi ko,"  Gov. Sol Matugas hosted the colorful observance of the 58th Founding Anniversary of the Province on June 19, 2018 at the Provincial Convention Center.

No less than Socio-Economic Planning Assistant Sec. Mercedita Sombilla, Reg. Dir. Myla Faye Cariño and Civil Service Commission (CSC) Provincial Dir. Harold Pareja graced the historic affair to share their heart-warming thoughts.

This was by virtue of RA 7553, otherwise known as An Act Declaring June Nineteen of Every Year as a Special Nonworking Holiday, universally recognized as “Adlaw Nan Surigao del Norte”

“After 8 years of steadfast and hardwork commitment fueled by our passion to give no less than the best for the Surigaonons, we have got along with base on the Philippine Statistics Authority's data our poverty incidence has declined at a steady pace from 48.9% when i assumed in office down to 26.7% in the latest figures,” said the award-winning Governor, in her splendid and brilliant remarks, complemented by “Bag-o na Surigaonon” audio-visual film.

Early that day, a Walk for Health took center-stage at the City Boulevard and strategic locations, which was followed shortly by a Holy Mass. Exciting and fun-filled activities also materialized at the Provincial Convention Center, which consisted, among others, of the HEALS Cluster Dance Contest, the Voice of Capitol Singing Contest and Laro ng Lahi Indigenous Games.

Showcased in the afternoon was the Grand Awarding Ceremony of the Best Performing Employees and Best Performing Office.

Hereunder are the names of the Outsatanding Employees who obtained Php5,000 cash prize on top of their certificates:

Earning  Php10,000 cash and respective certificates were the five Best Performing Offices as follows:
1. Provincial Human Resource Management and Development Office
2. Provincial Tourism Office
3. Provincial Planning and Development Office
4. SP Secretary Office
5. Provincial Assessor's Office

Meanwhile, Provincial Planning Coordinator Ivonnie Beltran Dumadag was also honored as the Most Outstanding Employee. Dumadag, who recently passed the Environmental Planning Exams is the CSC-nominee for the Dangal ng Bayan award in Caraga.

In addition, there were two officers of the Philippine National Police (PNP) and 1 Administrative Aide from Mainit who were bestowed with the Governor's Award of Excellence, namely:
1. PCInsp Wise Vicente B. Panuelos of San Isidro Mun. Police Station
2. PCInsp Shalom Faye S. Cornelio, PCR of Surigao del Norte
3. Rosa C. Nerio, Administrative Aide of Mainit
