(April 9, 2018)

She will be joined by House Speaker Pantaleon 'Sonny' Alvarez who is a constant guest and keynote speaker of the well-known affair.

Gov. Sol Matugas is set to open the universally-acclaimed Siargao International Game Fishing Tournament in collaboration with various stakeholders at the heart of the municipality of Pilar on April 11 and 12, this year.Anglers from all points of the globe will vie for the championship title from April 11 to 16, is which is a must-see all over the planet, particularly the United States, North America, South America, Russia, United Kingdom, Australia, Hong Kong, and many more.

It should be recalled that over 80 home-grown and foreign anglers took part last year during the widely-held tournament which marked a decade of distinction, which drew cheers from a very excited crowd.

“We are prepared. In fact, we have already organized various working committees specifically to cater and attend to the concerns not just of the zealous competitors and key players but also the people in general. This is not just a responsibility of one person, this is a collaborative endeavor wherein I need the full support and wholehearted cooperation of everybody,” said Gov. Matugas.

Siargao is considered as the surfing and gamefishing mecca of the world with popular Holywood and Filipino celebrities taking their vacation to find solace in the adventure paradise, away from the traffic, congestion, hassles and stress of the metropolis.

Gov. Matugas has earlier issued her marching orders for all the concerned agencies and front-line personnel to guarantee the safety, security and well-being of the people who will attend the Gamefishing Festival, and every tourism spectacle in the island, from hereon.
