Korean government formally communicates with PGSDN
(February 2, 2018)
In order to actualize a field visit in the latter part of this month and gain better understanding, the Provincial Government of Gyeongsangbuk-do has formally intimated its desire to cement a strong linkage and indestructible ties with the province through the brilliant auspices of Gov. Sol Matugas.
Formal correspondence respecting official request for production and income information on Surigao del Norte was duly received by the Provincial Capitol.
Ms. Soo, country director at Saemaul Globalization Foundation (SGF) affirmed that there are currently three villages that they are working on, namely - Balincaguing and Lomboy in Zambales, and Guadalupe in Aklan.
"We work various community development projects especially in consultation with Saemaul global team at the provincial government of Gyeongsang-bukdo in the Republic of Korea. Our non-profit international organization is dedicated to sharing Saemaul Undong," explained Ms. Soo.
To get to know each other and better engage in their interest in Saemaul Undong, Amy Hwangbo, managing director of Saemaul Global Team also sent her warmest felicitations to Gov. Matugas, through Provincial Tourism Officer Ivonnie Dumadag.
"We need your help in the data gathering in order to clearly document the specific information which will help facilitate a good working relationship between the two countries, the Philippines and Korea, as partners," said Ms. Soo.
She also recognized that the input of the province is essential as it is greatly appreciated.
Saemaul Undong is one of the representing brands which makes KOrea the 14th economic powerhouse in the entire world. It opens the era of 20 thousand per capita income from a country with poverty and hunger under the ravages and ashes of Korean War.
Saemaul Undong brought a fire in the ground of farmland and fishing villages entrenched with the guiding spirit of diligence, self-help, and cooperation based on the slogan of "Live Well" and made what seems to be a miracle at the Han River.
Now, beyond the democratization and industrialization that take center-stage in Korea, Saemaul Undong has totally reshaped the rich country as an epoch-making asset of planet Earth. For all intents and purposes, it is fast becoming as a hopeful and inspiring campaign to alleviate the economic well-being of people who seek decent living and sustainable progress.
To top it all, the United Nations highly recommends Saemaul Undong as a model program for poverty reduction.
