Inter-Agency Sports Focal Persons convene

(April 27, 2018)

Team Capitol, sports coordinators, national line agencies and provincial offices met last April 26, 2018 at the Expanded PGO Conference for the pre-launching of the Inter-Agency Sports Fest in line with the 117th Founding Anniversary of One Surigao.

Instead of the tentative schedule which is April 27, 2018, it was revealed by former Provincial Administrator Romy Cal who is now the designated over-all focal person, that the exciting activity will be moved to May 7.

Team Brackets were designated in order to level the playing field. Basketball has 5 brackets – namely A, B, C and D.

Bracket A consisted of DepEd SDN, Surneco, CAAP, Team capitol, Surigao City Police Station and the Diocesan Clergy.

Philippine Ports Authority (PPA), Provincial Police Office, Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) Bracket B, Surigao State College of Technology (SSCT), 30th Infantry Battalion of the Philippine Army, National Food Authority and Philippine Statistics Authority belonged to Bracket B.

For Bracket C – DepEd City, Caraga Regional Hospital (CRH), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), Philippine Coast Guard, National Irrigation Administration (NIA), Maritime Police and RTC (PNP)

Bracket D: Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) PAG-IBIG/SSS/GSIS, City Government, Bureau of Customs (BOC), Kapitolyo nan Siargao and Land Transportation Office (LTO).

Volleyball has two categories – Men and Women.

There are two brackets for the female category: A and B.

A – DPWH, PNP, SSCT, BFP, DENR (PENRO), DepEd SDN, and Provincial Capitol; B – PPA, CRH, SMWD, Surneco, Surigao City LGU, DepEd City Division and PSA/NFA
For the male Category, Bracket A is composed of CRH, Surneco, Team Capitol, DepEd Mainland Division, PPA and DPWH while Bracket B comprised of BFP, SMWD, Surigao City government, DepEd City Division, PSA/NFA and PNP (PPO).

Players for badminton include Team Capitol, 30th IB, Philippine Coast Guard, BFP, MARINA, DepEd City Division, DENR (PENRO), SURNECO, Bureau of Customs (BOC), PSA/NFA and the Judiciary/DOJ.

Table Tennis – Capitol Family, CRH, BFP, DepEd Mainland Division, DENR (PENRO), PAG-IBIG/SSS/GSIS, Surneco, PSA/NFA

Darts: Capitol Family, BFP, Philippine Coast Guard, CRH, DepEd Mainland Division, DENR (PENRO), PAG-IBIG/SSS/GSIS, Surneco, BOC, PSA/NFA

Chess: Provincial Capitol, 30th IB PA, Philippine Coast Guard, DepEd Mainland Division, PAG-IBIG/SSS/GSIS, Surneco, BOC

DPWH, Capitol Team, DepEd City Division, DepEd Mainland Division, SDMWD, Surneco and PSA/NFA also constitute themselves as contenders for the cheerdance live battles
Vice Gov. Arturo Carlos Egay, Jr. tackled early on during a previous gathering the single round robin and team bracket system, wherein the games consist of basketball,  which has maximum of 15 players.

Also slated were volleyball with 15 players and four respecting table tennis with two alternates, to include both men and women.

Chess, badminton and dart were also lined up. Contest proper has both semi final rounds and championship matches.

It was also agreed that athletes must strictly and religiously follow the proper scheduling, and wear complete uniforms to avoid getting disqualified.

Policies, rules and regulations must also abide, adhere and conform with the terms and provisions laid down by the International Basketball Federation ( FIBA) as well as theFédération Internationale de Volleyball (FIVB) to avoid any untoward circumstances.

Competitions will also follow the standards prescribed by the National Tournament Rules and Guidelines.

Necessary virtues of each player are professionalism, courtesy, politeness, respect, patience, resilience, endurance, tolerance, fortitude, longsuffering, obedience and sportsmanship.

Ground rules must at all times be recognized, according to the enthusiastic and spirited presiding officer of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan.
