Governor Sol vows to protect Cloud 9 as Siargao’s jewel

(May 2, 2018)

Saying that the number one goal of her administration is to safeguard the wellbeing, security, happiness and safety of everyone, Gov. Sol Matugas issued her marching orders to strictly implement the policies, regulations and protocols governing the use of the Boardwalk and Tower, during the re-opening last April 29, 2018.

“For one month, we never rested. We do our best to take care of those who love the beach and look after those who want to surf. We also acknowledge the efforts of PJ Gorgonio and the rest of LGU officials, for being there all the time. Thank you, Cong. Bingo for being there, sharing with us new ideas on how to make this place secure and safe all the time,” said the smart-thinking and action-oriented Governor.

Gov. Matugas said that ‘the guests are part of the community, who have equal share of the responsibility to preserve the natural beauty of Siargao as a paramount tourism paradise in this part of the world.’

“You are here not just to visit the place but to help us to make this splendid destination safe and beautiful for all,” added the multi-awarded Governor who once championed the prestigious award dubbed SKAL Tourism International.

She also said that the fortuitous event involving Karen Davila was ‘a wake up call for municipal officials, especially first responders and paramedics on the ground to shape up and get their acts together.’

“In the days to come and in the months to come, we will see lots of transformation in this area. Never in our wildest dreams to see this to be another Boracay. That is why we strive hard to prevent that inadvertent possibility from happening,” said Gov. Matugas.

Meanwhile, the well-versed Governor said that ‘no one is exempted from strictly adhering to the policies laid down to exact 100% conformity, absolute respect, pure observance and perfect compliance.’

“Expect inspection and scrutiny of business inventory on account of facilities allowed by law. Resorts which fall short of environmental compliance will not be countenanced. The LGU must make it compulsory for establishments to religiously abide by the provisions of our national statutes,” explained the intelligent Governor.

She said that under her watch, people must enjoy their stay and enjoy what is in store for them, without fear of any untoward circumstances. But, she maintained however, that those unavoidable situations must be squarely addressed by concerned authorities.

“Never in my wildest dreams that I imagine will the oceans and seas become primary attraction for those who love them. Thank you Lord for this wonderful legacy, a beautiful place in the world, the best surf site,” said the workaholic Governor.

To top it all, Gov. Matugas encouraged all the stakeholders and civilians alike, to rise as one in keeping Cloud 9 clean, sheltered and sound.

“Let us work hand in hand for the best interest of our tourists and local people,” said Gov. Matugas.
