Governor Sol orders zero collection for scouting

(January 24, 2018)

“I will pay for the scouting fees. Do not collect anything.”

These were the marching orders of Governor Sol Matugas to DepEd Surigao del Norte Division on January 23, 2018.

At press time, there are more than19,600 members of the SDN council while 26,822 in three chapters. The individual charge is Php50 without sustaining fee, covering kinder to Grade VI pupils.

It should be recalled that the Surigao del Norte BSP Council was declared as the over-all winner and most outstanding council during the ASEAN Jamboree held recently in Tagum City.
Surigao del Norte will also be h
osting the Annual National Council Meeting in May of this year which will be participated by over 1000 delegates from 120 councils nationwide.

Gov. Matugas is a National Executive Officer (Sector Representative) of the Boy Scout of the Philippines and a recipient of the Tamaraw Award for her outstanding, commendable, and exemplary leadership in the Scouting Movement.

Also a recipient of the prestigious accolade was then Gov. Francisco ‘Lalo’ Matugas.

“Scouting is for everyone. Our province pays for that. We want to inspire and shape friendly, loyal and honest followers who are taught the proper values to eventually become future leaders of our country,” the versatile and top-performing Governor declared.

Clearly stated, the challenge for world leaders, according to the hands-on Governor, is ‘how to overcome and defeat stagnation, pessimism and decline.’

Gov. Matugas also said that the covenant of faith brings peace and prosperity for all the people. She also offered her snappy salute to all who help her administration.

Meanwhile, the thoughtful Governor revealed that Education Sec. Leonor Briones expressed her intent to appear during the Tri-Division Congress which will be participated by over 6,000 teachers.

She also professed that Erik Santos and Angeline Quinto were requested via Globe as a leading sponsor as well as Erich Gonzales, Jasmine Curtis-Smith and Jericho Rosales, lead celebrities who starred in the blockbuster movie, “Siargao.”
