Governor convenes PPOC
(July 16, 2018)
Gov. Sol Matugas pro-actively summoned members of different line agencies and Team Capitol in a Provincial Peace and Order Council (PPOC) meeting which took shape at the Philippine Gateway Hotel Surigao last July 4.
Also present were Municipal Mayors and uniformed personnel from the military and police. Brig. Gen. Nemesio Bacal revealed that the community support programs put into action by the Philippine Army squarely address pressing issues and concerns.
Presented before the multitudes were the crime index which encompassed road traffic accidents and matters respecting violations of special laws, crime clearance efficiency, crime solution efficiency and comparative distribution.
On crime clearance efficiency, there was a significant rise from 65.36% last year to 75.18% this year. On crime solution efficiency, an increase from 55.42% to 65.53% for this year. Accordingly, suspected offenders were identified, apprehended and brought to justice.
Illegal driving was also taken into discussion subject to the presence of license and helmet. Other considerations involve physical structures, good education and proper enforcement inasmuch as ample training is concerned.
Target personalities were also captured in illegal narcotics operations. Also notable was the great figures evidencing the positive impacts of the all-out crusade against illegal fishing, illegal betting, highway robbery, carnapping, and other high crimes.
Police presence, according to the multi-media presentation, is the backbone of crime prevention to assure communities of safety from crimes.
In view of the foregoing, strategic police intervention is attributed to the dramatic reduction of crimes.
Significant gains also lead to hardly any incidence of damage to properties and lives.
Meanwhile, Board Member Edgar Andanar said that road safety policies and signages must be carried out in partnership with education programs enforced at the grassroots level and mainstream society, which consist of motorists.
He added that dialogue with concerned stakeholders is a good measure to ensure proper implementation.
With the enhanced law enforcement, the province remains peaceful with controllable crime prevalence in coordination with government operatives to institute mass cleansing and police the ranks.
TopCop training was also initiated recently in Siargao. Arrest of wanted persons and comprehensive trainings of barangay tanods, paved the way for serenity, amity and harmony, the report added.
