Governor champions reforms during the RDC

(March 5, 2018)

By the full authority and official appointment of Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte, Gov. Sol Matugas brilliantly presided and eagerly convened the 93rd Full Council Meeting of the powerful Regional Development Council Meeting (RDC) last March 2, 2018 at the Provincial Convention Center.

It was attended by representatives from various line agencies, provinces, cities and municipalities all over Caraga Region.

Gov. Matugas issued her marching orders to expedite the establishment of big-ticket infrastructure projects especially for the general well-being of her beloved constituents.

These consist of putting up the Hayangabon Bridge, which according to the well-versed Governor, is a dream project so that passengers from the mainland can enjoy a convenient land trip to Bucas Grande Island, instead of braving the rough waves during stormy weather and heavy rains.

She also recognized the well-meaning contributions and wholehearted support of her friends from several offices who truly love and strongly defend her every step of the way.

“Siargao is the gem of the Pacific and we must protect it from irresponsible tourists and drunken carabaos. We will also strictly monitor the resorts so we can track if they don’t violate the policies, laws and regulations in matters respecting easement,” said the multi-awarded Governor.

In order to make sure that the solid waste management program is correctly implemented, Gov. Matugas said that Punong Barangays must educate the grassroots so they learn to appreciate the importance of cleanliness and sanitation.

Environmental Compliance Certificates (ECCs), she added, must also be shown so that beach resorts can continue their operation, otherwise they must put up the shutters.

“We must love Caraga Region. When Pres. Duterte appointed me, I know I made history with such a record – twice during my prior terms of office. Everything cropped up inside my mind. I thought about my oath-taking before the House Speaker, and the full council meeting with regional directors, Governors, Mayors, the Academe, various sectors and the business community,” said Gov. Matugas.

Meanwhile, she also revealed that her heart was filled with enormous gratitude and exceeding joy with the whole day Tri-Division Teachers’ Congress which she cheerfully hosted.

“The culture of excellence lives on. I am envisioning to introduce the Seal of Excellence so that educators and students will be energized and inspired to do their best,” she affirmed.

Gov. Matugas also asserted that the Parents – Teachers’ Association (PTA) must also be recognized because parents are great partners toward quality and world-class learning.

With respect to the recently-concluded Binibining Kalikasan 2018, the workaholic and visionary Governor pronounced that ‘she is grateful to the pageant contenders for showing their pure talent and skills in lieu of bikini showdown which may be construed as too vulgar.’

“Let me take this opportunity to acknowledge the untiring efforts of our outgoing Provincial Planning Coordinator Arturo Cruje who sacrificed a lot in order to advocate for the finest and grandest,” said the hands-on and action-oriented Governor.

She also thanked Mayor Lamberto Domiños, Jr. for donating 50 hectares of lot to increase supply and improve production of palay through the Philippine Rice Center. Moreover, the award-winning Governor also said that the Livestock Farm in Dapa to induce more poultry and piggery.
