Governor champions RDC initiatives

(March 5, 2018)

Gov. Sol Matugas energized the diatinguished members of the powerful Caraga Regional Development Council (RDC) when she brilliantly presided the 93rd Full Council Meeting last March 2, 2018 at the Provincial Convention Center.

Cong. Francisco 'Jose' Bingo Matugas said it was his first time to attend the RDC, wherein he presented the Comprehensive Siargao Masterplan for Tourism Development.

In her acceptance speech, Gov. Matugas looked back to the day when she first assumed the chairmanship.

According to her, she was able 'to pilot strategic and responsive development interventions implemented with national and regional stakeholders to advance the interest of the region.'

"This development made a big difference in the lives of Caraganons. I stand before you humbled and proud because Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte has given me fresh mandate to lead this esteemed body," said the smart-thinking and hands-on Governor.

She said that 'she is grateful with the gift of service, trust and opportunity, a special privilige which is fulfilling in charting a brand new start of the continuing journey.'

In addition, the multi-awarded Governor also talked about her steadfast dedication and unfaltering commitment as the perfect emblem and hallmark of excellence and integrity, armed with innovative ideas for the attainment of the region's goals.

"This day forward, we bring the council closer to every member. We will also bring the RDC to other places in the region including Siargao Island," stressed the versatile and workaholic Governor.

Gov. Matugas also emphasized the need to strengthen the Duterte administration's platform of change in line with Ambisyon 2040, 'Matatag, Maginhawa at Panatag na Buhay Para sa Lahat.'

As she welcomed everyone, the forward-looking Governor invited her honored guests 'to see more of the province and enjoy the camaraderie as we start more work ahead of us.'

"I need the help of everyone. When I got the flag and gavel, I realize how big the job was. Join me in this journey. I have less than 2 years to finish my term as Chair. We will maximize our time. We will work together to the best interest of Caraga,' said the superstar Governor.

NEDA Reg. Dir. Myla Fe Carino turned over to Gov. Matugas the ceremonial flag, gavel and agenda platforms.

Among those proposals in the pipeline which were included in the agenda were the Financial Reports and Comprehensive Budget covering state universities and colleges as well as national line agencies, Development Academy of the Philippines (DAP) Public Management Plan, proposed plantilla items for the National Police Commission (Napolcom), peace-building in the fight against terrorism, and Solid Waste Management Plan.

Also discussed were the big-ticket infrastructure projects, AIPs of provinces, and other giant endeavors which will effectively usher economic progress and livelihood generation.
