Gob Lalo celebrates seasons of great adventures

(May 14, 2018)

For all its meaning, essence, and advantage, then Gov. Francisco Matugas who was dubbed as “Mr. Panambay” and the “Father of Surigao del Norte,” marked the day of his birth with a Spartan, simple yet festive gathering with his loved ones, bosom friends, loyal supporters and ardent well-wishers last May 10 in Dapa, the land of his birth, the place he calls home.

Among those who arrived were former Foreign Affairs Sec. Perfecto ‘Jun’ Yasay and Ilocos Gov. Ma. Imelda Josefa R. Marcos, who expressed their sincerest gratitude to the man who champions the cause of the poor and the masses.

Joyous advance get-together and merry-making took center-stage at the rooftop of the Go Negosyo Center in the evening of May 8, 2018 where proud delegates from the Boy Scout of the Phils National Annual Council exchanged their pleasantries.

Gob Lalo was presented with an assortment of gifts – primarily kind and thoughtful greetings, words of gratitude and encouragement, as well as songs that gain control of the heart.

Gov. Sol Matugas also sang for her beloved husband, the lifetime partner who was instrumental for her success, the better-half who was the wind beneath her wings.

It should be noted that Gob Lalo is a member of the Bar who loves to serve the people without favoritism  or string-pulling. In fact, the deprived, the needy, the disfavored and the indigent – those who belong to the vulnerable and  marginalized sectors of our society can easily approach him. Anyone who seeks his help can draw near to him, because Gob Lalo is very humble, practical, sensible and realistic.

In the words of John Glenn: “Si Gob Lalo dool sa dughan sa masa, daling sangpiton ug tinuod nga dalangpanan sa mga kabus, timawa, uyamot ug nagkadaiyang hut ong sa katilingban, way pabor pabor, ug andam moalagad sa katawhan, usa ka abugado de kampanilya nga kanunay matinabangon, maalagaron ug maki-angayon sa matag takna sa iyang panerbisyo sa katawhan.”

During his incumbency as representative of the First legislative District of the House of Representatives , Atty. Matugas put up giant infrastructures, school buildings, establishments, massive projects, and the well-built Siargao Circumferential Road.

Means of transportation were enhanced and developed by the construction, improvement and rehabilitation of sea ports and  air terminal situated in Brgy. Sayak, Del Carmen town. Through his best efforts, Siargao International Gamefishing Tournament and the World Surfing Cap in Pilar and General Luna, respectively, gained universal prominence.

True to his word, Gob Lalo also inspired the conduct of Trabaho Negosyo Kabuhayan Jobs Fair 2018 and distribution of livelihood projects and GIP Certificates.

To top it all was the Blessing of CIDG Siargao Island Field Office, Signing of MOA and Ceremonial Turn-over of Office Equipment, Computer Set, Motorcycle to the new CIDG Siargao Island Field Office graced by no less than the CIDG Director Gen Roel Obusan as guest of honor with Cong. Francisco Jose ‘Bingo’ Matugas II, Gob Lalo’s only begotten son and namesake.

Ceremonial Turn-over of computer sets worth P1.6M donated by PGMC chaired by Joseph Sy to Siargao Island Institute of Technology School of Information Technology also materialized.
