Cong. Bingo launches feeding program

(March 19, 2018)

In partnership with the Risen Savior Mission and the Coca-cola FEMSA made possible through Babes Calixto, Cong. Bingo Matugas formally piloted his special program to feed schoolchildren dubbed “Himsog na Bata, Bagtik na Siargaonon” last March 17, 2018.

Around 2300 kids initially benefitted in the feeding program which aimed to enhance their nutrition and to improve their health.

‘Bingo’ biscuits were distributed on top of canned goods which consisted of ‘Bingo’ corned beef and beef loaf. Joining the congressman was his staff, wife Ethel, Board Member Abeth Matugas, Mrs. Lily Gonzales, son Niko, and proud supporters.

In his message, Cong. Matugas emphasized that ‘unlike the other lugaws, his is fortified with ample vitamins and adequate nutrients.’

Adding that balanced nutrition has always been his primordial concern, the visionary and principled legislator stressed that ‘he is going to monitor the development of the program as well as its significant effect to the children.’

“This endeavor is fair to all, there is no color coding, no politics involved. The feeding program is year-round, to be undertaken once in a week for three straight months at the outset. We need to continually educate the barangays and get the heads-up from the regular report and study as we even up the scorecard,” said Cong. Matugas.

In contrast with other providers who are only concerned with nourishing the young with lots of carbohydrates, lots of nutrients can be found in the repast.

“We will address the malnutrition problem,” he said.

Beside the feeding activities, Cong. Matugas also revealed that he tapped former Philippine Azkal player Mark Mcmahon to help him in his sports enhancement mission.

Cong. Matugas also explained the importance of eyeglasses distribution, surgical mission, dental care and medical outreach to different municipalities.

“We want to inform the people that we are doing the best we can for their general well-being. In fact, we have  a wastewater treatment facility for the waste-to-energy conversion, ranging from PhP150 to P300 million worth. Discipline will be enforced upon erring resorts which do not have environmental clearance certificates,” added the hands-on gentleman from the House of Representatives.

He said that children’s games were the idée fixe of Pres. Rodrigo Duterte.

Competitiveness in the arena of physical education, exercises and athletics must be fully harnessed as much as the inherent potential of various players, according to Cong. Matugas.

“We are bracing for the National Sports Event next year to take center-stage in Siargao,” said the good congressman.
