Cong Bingo: Barangay officials must follow the administration

(June 11, 2018)

“Let us help one another to inspire real change in General Luna and Siargao, because in unity there is a strength, let us not foment divisiveness, instead let us join together for progress.”

This was the heartfelt message of First District Cong. Francisco Jose ‘Bingo’ Matugas II last June 4, 2018 in General Luna during the mass oath-taking of newly-elected barangay and SK officials.

Cong. Matugas warned the newly-installed officials of the Sangnguniang Kabataan and the various barangays to conscientiously obey the law and religiously adhere to the regulations laid down by President Rodrigo Duterte mlabina especially in the all-out war against illegal drugs, after PDEA has released the updated list of barangay officials involved in the illegal trade of shabu nationwide.

Cong. Matugas said that there must be total cleansing and mass crackdown of unlawful activities among barangay officials of General Luna which is the heart of tourism, stressing that any untoward event and sale of illegal drugs must be reported immediately to local police authorities for quick action.

He said that those who vend for shabu must be put to jail.

Meanwhile, the idealistic lawmaker also expanded and strengthened his advocacy on Siargao Environmental Protection in the fight against the proliferation of solid waste in every purok.

Waste segregation must start in the puroks, he said, urging everyone to be responsible and true to their commitment by demonstrating self-discipline and in so doing, cleaning the surroundings.

“Let me take this opportunity to elicit your full, wholehearted and unconditional support in the special program I launch dubbed as ECO BRICKS as the pilot model in the entire Mindanao so that plastic bottles, cellophane and other waste materials like wrappers will be converted using modern technology into giant structures, to boost our infrastructure,” maintained the action-oriented congressman.

Cong. Matugas noted that in Siargao, more specifically in Gen. Luna, economic growth is evident but the challenge of malnutrition among the children can still be gleaned, that is why he launched his three times a week FEEDING PROGRAM for 3 months.

“Let us support tourism, like in Brgy. Katangnan, focusing on crowd control especially in the management of beach resorts, to stamp out highway robbery and stealing of money and valuables from the tourists,” said the visionary gentleman from the House of Representatives.

In addition, Cong Bingo desires to institute policies respecting tourist attractions to be barangay based, in order to promote tourism progress which will eventually generate phenomenal growth and sterling development in fascinating sights and wonders like the Sugba Lagoon in Del Carmen, Sohoton Cove in Bucas Grande and Magpopongko in Pilar.

Barangay officials as community leaders must serve as models for the people, in which the fair-minded and straightforward congressman said, “with leadership comes responsibility,” explaining that the shared efforts must be encouraged at the grassroots level.

“On July 1, you will assume your duties and responsibilities as elected leaders of the people, as government officials. Let us move shoulder to shoulder as we advocate toward federalism for the good of our beloved province, the beautiful Surigao del Norte.

During the State of National Address ( SONA ) of President Duterte which is tentatively set on July 23, he will speak lengthily about the real essence of through the DILG manned by Asec Jonathan Malaya, the only legitimate group fully empowered to make rounds in each barangay,” affirmed Cong. Bingo.
