Cito Beltran: Speak only the truth
(February 23, 2018)
With the Biblical passage written in Exodus 20:16 which clearly states: "Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor," Cito Beltran energized the ocean of communicators with his electrifying sense of humor and brutal frankness.
Everyone at the SMX Convention Center found themselves laughing at the punchlines and segues thrown to them by the veteran commentator-turned-pastor on Feb. 19, 2018.
He began to sermonize on the issue of sabotage, wherein, there is a deliberate intent to destroy, harm, damage or obstruct for vested political interest or military goal.
"The leader sets the tone," he said, pointing to a headline-grabbing picture of La Pieta, which was controversial because it rendered bare and unprotected the face of an unwilling victim who was gunned down in broad daylight.
Fake news, according to Beltran, 'is never justified.'
"Do your job correctly. Police your own ranks. Educate yourself. Strategic incompetence is the art of avoiding certain tasks. In short, nagtatanga tangahan. The reality in government is this - you do nothing, see nothing, hear nothing, say nothing. Iwas-pusoy. God does not call the qualified. He qualifies the called," Beltran asserted.
Goal without plan, Beltran said, 'is just a wish.' By giving them value, communicators must not talk about the price, he added.
"Don't fish for what you have. You must have the clarity of purpose. Let the story tell it. Innovate. If you are bothered, live with the bother. Rise above your level of poverty. Take ownership," said Beltran.
He also warned everyone not to engage in extra-marital affairs because 'infidelity in the family only results to infidelity at work.'
It should be recalled that Louie Beltran caught the rage and outburst of then Pres. Corazon Aquino when he wrote that 'the President hid under her bed during one of the coup attempts that rocked her administration.' The older Beltran was tried in a court of law, and Cory herself appeared to testify in her defense.
In closing, Beltran read the passage found in the book of Proverbs 15: 22 which says: “Plans fail for lack of counsel, but with many advisers they succeed,” and in Prov. 3:5-6 which states: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”
