Art Cruje celebrates life, retirement

(March 13, 2018)

Bosom friends and well-meaning colleagues joined the 65th birthday party and tribute to Provincial Planning Coordinator Arturo Cruje which took center-stage at the PGO Gazeebo last March 6, 2018.

Dr. Nelia Lomocso and Dr. Laila Danaque, of the DepEd Mainland Division led a phalanx of educators and academicians. In his message, Vice Gov. Junjun Egay walked down the memory lane to narrate his personal encounters with Cruje ever since he knew him as a young boy during the incumbency of Gov Jose Sering.

According to Vice Gov. Egay, Cruje’s potential was discovered and harnessed by the Sering administration, which developed full-blown during the terms of Gov. Rolando ‘Roling’ Geotina, Gov. Wencelito ‘Dodong’ Andanar, Gov. Moises ‘Isik’ Ecleo, and Gov. Francisco ‘Lalo’ Matugas.

Gov. Matugas gave Cruje a break when he was appointed head of the Provincial Planning department. Vice Gov. Egay added that Cruje’s intelligence is exceptional and as a rare breed, he did extremely in facilitating and hosting the Provincial Development Council meetings.

Moreover, Vice Gov. Egay said that retirement is a perfect time to unwind and relax from the stress of everyday grind. By traveling around the world to gain new insights, Cruje can have the peace of mind, comfort and happiness that he longs for.

On her part, BM Melva Garcia, described Mr Cruje as a brilliant decorator whose astonishing talent can transform the stage into a lovely, beautiful and spectacular venue.

Court interpreter Max Tandan said that Sir Art is one strong pillar in their batch, and as such, a very smart and gifted classmate.

Incoming Planning Coordinator Ivonnie Dumadag divulged that the provincial command will put up a departament of education, arts and culture to be headed by Sir Art with the support of Local School Board (LSB) Coordinator Andrea Mijares. In other words, Ms. Dumadag clarified, ‘that Sir Art will continue working for the Provincial Capitol beyond his retirement.’

PGO Chief of Staff Teresita Ajoc also imparted her experience with Sir Art when she started working in 1986 during the time of Gov. Andanar She said Mr Cruje inspired her to give her best in everything she does.

Ms. Ajoc added that during the time of Gov. Lalo Matugas, Sir Art personally decorated the Capitol splendidly with such pure and authentic interior design. She added that ‘it’s hard to follow the footsteps of Mr. Cruje.’

In his acceptance speech, Sir Art thanked his classmates for gracing his bash. He also accepted the offer of Gov Sol Matugas to head a department, having in mind the construction of Bayay Surigaonon, from indigenous materials, and native items in partnership with Archietect Ian Dominos.

Sir Art expressed his earnest gratitude for a fun-filled komple anyo. He also thanked God for the gift of life. He said he has no enemies, and he is friend to everyone. Amid the intrigues and the controversies, Mr. Cruje said that he never gave up. Instead, he remained standing, ignoring all the rumors that came in the way.
